RESTAURANT SERVICE – LEARN SERVER SKILLS
The global serving community in quality restaurants and up-scale clubs include: waiters and waitresses now commonly known as “servers”, bussers, hosts/hostesses, restaurant managers and dining room supervisors. These people are part of a wait staff. To a large extent, the responsibilities of a server depend greatly on the type of hospitality establishment; however in all cases his or her primary duty is providing great guest service, taking orders and delivering food and beverages. There are also situations when servers are expected to explain menu items and recommend beverage pairings with said menu items to the guests. Therefore, they have to work closely with other service staff and the kitchen personnel. Therefore, servers become apart of the guests’ whole dining experience. The function of helping guests, personalizing a meal and detailed service requires extra attention; which we outline here.
